Tanzania representatives in the CAF Confederation Cup, Azam FC have booked a last 16 game against Liberian club Barrack Y.C.II.
The first leg match of the next round will be played in Monrovia on the weekend falling between March 15 and 17. the return leg match will be played in Dar es Salaam on the weekend dates of April 5 to 7.
Azam, making their debut appearance in the CAF league’s whitewashed South Sudan’s Al Nasr by 8-1 goals aggregates having posted a comprehensive 5-0 rout in the return leg played over the weekend in Juba.

Sierra Leone’s Johansens having won the home leg by a lobe goal before settling for barren draw in the return leg played in Freetown over the weekend.
Following the remarkable progression in the CAF Confederation Cup, the Tanzania Football federation has congratulated Azam. However the football body has also urged the Tanzanian team to prepare well for their next game and take the weekend victory as a challenge to find a breakthrough.
Azam is the only Tanzanian team still surviving in continental football for the year following Simba’s horrific elimination by Angolan team over the weekend.
Upon return from Juba, Azam will have to resume their premiership title campaign as they host relegation threatened Police Morogoro at their backyard of Chamazi on Saturday.
The ice-cream makers are six points adrift of pacemakers Yanga after 18 league appearances. The football federation has also hailed a good job done by the Azam English coach Stewart John Hall for leading the side into the next round of the competition.
